Position Summary
The Wireless Network Engineer will be responsible for ongoing maintenance, support and configurations relating to the enterprise production wireless system and ensuring capabilities for various operations. This position provides technical expertise related to the core components of the wireless infrastructure, management systems and optimization of wireless signaling. The implementation activities to be performed by the engineer include device configuration, equipment installation, integration, implementation and migration, testing and troubleshooting. The engineer will also ensure solution and operational issues are thoroughly documented and consistent with our long-term road-map for wireless service capabilities.
Position Activities
Responsible for operational support and troubleshooting production issues to optimize wireless networking throughout the campus environment.
Develops wireless network infrastructures and makes recommendation on systems enhancements for optimization. Responsible for adjustments to radio network parameters, adding/deleting of neighbors and recommending possible solutions to hardware problems.
Designs and validates RF link performance, quality and reliability. Ensures wireless frequency and stability for all areas within range.
Responsible for physical replacement, installation and troubleshooting of Access Point hardware. Analyzes wireless drivers and recommends drivers to remote access devices.
Uses measuring and diagnostic tools to test and adjust wireless technologies. Monitors and analyzes statistical data to improve system performance.
Assists in the planning, configuration, deployment and support of campus LAN/WAN infrastructure.
Facilitates and coordinates the work of vendors, suppliers, and wireless systems engineers in the resolution of systems fault.

Participates in the evaluation of vendor hardware, software, and wireless communications products; recommends purchases consistent with WCMC short and long term objectives. Participates in the design and implementation of selected software and hardware solutions, systems, or products in an Enterprise wireless/wired Environment. This will include both new systems, as well as upgrades to existing solutions.
Documents advanced Enterprise Wireless Solutions using tools such as Visio, Excel and Word Documents to depict physical and logical associations and integrations.
Provides a point of escalation for Network Analysts when wireless engineering expertise is needed to resolve issues and problems relating to service availability and operations
Participates in a rotating on-call schedule for off hours support.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Aruba Networks or Cisco Systems certifications are highly desired, certification in one of these areas may also substitute for some education. Strong emphasis in wireless experience required.
Minimum 4 years hands on experience in maintenance, operation, troubleshooting design, implementation and management of data wireless and wired systems.
Required technologies: Aruba Networks Wireless LAN technologies, Clearpass and Airwave appliances, Aruba Wireless controller technologies and Wireless access points. Candidate must possess strong Cisco layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing experience.
